About Me:

Hello, I’m Andy, a 25 year old full-time powerlifting coach. To give you a little background about myself, I graduated from Merrimack College with my B.S. in Exercise Science in 2021, and since then have bounced around in the fields of both physical therapy and strength & conditioning. After graduating, I worked in a physical therapy clinic for about a year and a half as a rehab aide, absorbing knowledge from the physical therapists that I worked alongside while studying on my own. Feeling that physical therapy wasn’t where my passion resided, I obtained my C.S.C.S and shortly afterwards moved onto a strength & conditioning internship at Champion PT & Performance in Waltham, MA. There, I was able to work with a variety of athletes ranging from children, to high level collegiate / high school athletes, professional athletes, and adults. This internship gave me an extremely valuable base of knowledge when it came to assessing movement, in-person coaching, and biomechanics. Around this same time, I had recently competed in my first powerlifting meet, and since then my passion for the sport has only grown. I have been actively competing as an athlete since late in 2021, and have been coaching powerlifting athletes since 2022.

Shortly after establishing Triumph Strength & Performance alongside fellow coaches Chris Scaplen and Devan Tenney in 2022, I found myself quickly developing my roster. In order to provide the best service possible for my athletes, I have committed my time towards always staying ahead of the curve in terms of knowledge and endlessly looking for opportunities to grow and learn as a coach. Whether this was in the form of mentorship through being coached by higher level coaches, networking with other coaches of similar standing, learning through experiences with my own athletes, or simply spending time consuming content , everything has been geared towards the endless pursuit of more knowledge. As things continued to develop for our business, it became possible for me to fully sustain myself on just my income from coaching, and in April of 2024 I was able to quit my part-time job and go full-time. To this day, my priorities as a coach remain to provide the best possible service for the athletes on my roster, regardless of strength level or experience level.

Coaching Philosophy:

As a coach, I take my line of work extremely seriously. This is what I do for my full time living, and I expect that effort to be reciprocated by the clients that I work with. My ideal clientele are individuals who are motivated and looking to be in the sport / compete for the long term. Communication is the pillar that my coaching philosophy revolves around. I believe that a collaborative approach between the coach and client is what yields the best results, whether that client is a beginner, intermediate, or advanced athlete. To go alongside this collaborative approach, I am extremely invested into the progress of each and every single one of my clients, regardless of their strength level. I do not look to work with clients who are looking for a babysitter. I am here to provide objective feedback about your training and guide you in the right direction, not to chase you for feedback and ask about whether or not sessions are being done.

My system revolves around the collaboration between the coach and client to gather data on you as an individual and create a training protocol that yields sustainable, realistic, and consistent progress for the athlete within each block. Communication and collaboration plays an extremely important role in expediting the speed at which we are able to land on this training protocol, which is why I place such a big emphasis on it.

What does my service look like:

As a full-time coach, my daily routine is structured around my athletes + coaching. I have set office hours between the times of 8:00am-8:00pm in which I am “On the clock”. During this time I am extremely responsive to messages, and the times outside of that where I am “Off the clock” I am much less responsive to messages. I also block out some time each day for my own personal training where I will also be less responsive, as I take pride in my own progress as an athlete as well.

Through WhatsApp as the main communication medium and google drive as the storage place for all training programs, training videos, and other educational content, I communicate with all my clients on near daily basis. This communication comes in the form of updating the spreadsheet when training is being done, uploading training videos from the day, and providing a summary of the session either during or after the session. Upon receiving all this information, I provide in depth feedback on anything notable from the day. This feedback can be in the form of a text message, voice message, or video message depending on the topic being talked about. In addition to this, the athlete receives a pre-recorded weekly check in, where I discuss the week ahead of us, any quality of life issues that need to be addressed, or go into further detail with any technique adjustments we are looking to make.

I am currently taking on clients… if you are potentially interested in working with me, you can fill out the link through “Apply for coaching” button at the top. Once the form has been filled out, we can meet on a call to discuss things further and figure out if we would be a good match. Feel free to send me a DM on instagram @tsp_andy with any questions!
